Serious Inquiries Only Equine
Serious Inquiries Only Equine was founded by longtime AQHA competitor Laura Kathryn Gilmer to serve the show-horse community with a better way to buy and sell. As Facebook made it increasingly difficult to market horses and equine items, we saw a clear need for a dedicated platform built specifically for the AQHA, APHA, NSBA, and ApHC industries.
We launched in June 2019, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. While there are plenty of equine sales sites out there, many are broad in scope and cluttered in presentation. We created something different: a more user-friendly, more polished, and more “show-horse” focused marketplace for higher-end horses and quality equine items—show clothing, tack, trailers, and more. Our mobile experience is especially easy, and many customers prefer posting directly from their phones.

About Us
Founder and CEO – Laura Kathryn Gilmer hails from Nashville, Tennessee, and is a former multi-carded judge, current Senior Editor for GoHorseShow, and grew up showing in this industry starting in 1985. She was the youngest youth to win the AQHA All-Around at the age of 11 and also, until last year, was the youngest to ever win the All-Age Youth All-Around at the Congress in 1986. She went on to win it back-to-back in 1987 and then in 1990. In 1996, she was a member of the US Quarter Horse World Cup Team that went to Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia, and brought home the championship. She showed up through the first year in college before she got her B.A. from The University of Southern California and her Master’s Degree also at USC. Laura has a 22-year-old son named Hunter and several foster dogs.
Sales Representative Sarah Kalahele – We’re excited to introduce Sarah Kalahele Smith, who has joined the Serious Inquiries Only Equine team as our Sales Representative. Sarah brings over 20 years of hands-on experience in the equine industry, with deep roots in the Paint world. She is an active breeder and competitor on the APHA circuit and attends multiple major breed shows each year, including World-level events.
In addition to her stock-horse background, Sarah works closely with hunter/jumper and eventing barns through her role as an independent saddle fitter and sales representative for a premium brand. That experience has her regularly in barns, at shows, and working directly with trainers, riders, and equine businesses across disciplines.
Sarah is highly relationship-driven and understands the value of professional, targeted exposure for horses, programs, and brands. She’ll be working directly with trainers, brokers, breeders, and equine businesses to help them make the most of Serious Inquiries Only Equine’s advertising opportunities.
