The Do’s and Don’ts of Buying and Selling Your Horses Online

Serious Inquiries Only Equine is a new on-line website specifically catered to the AQHA, APHA, ApHC, and NSBA crowd where we highlight horses, clothes, tack, etc for sale. It was launched in June of 2019, and we have had a very positive response so far. We have sold several ads and the traffic on our site is very impressive considering we just launched. We have compiled some do’s and don’ts of the best ways to sell your horses online.

DO – Keep the most of the money you can. A subscription based site like Serious Inquiries Only Equine is the most cost effective way to advertise your horses and items for sale. There are no commissions involved when you use our site. It is a way to buy and sell high end items and keep complete control of the transactions.

DO – Use Social Media like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to post the link from the site and share it with others. The link is also handy when you want to send everything all at once to somebody. Be careful when posting on Facebook as they have been cracking down on people posting horses for sale on the site.

DO- Post the prices of the horses and items you have for sale. It is the easiest way to be completely open and honest with buyers who are looking to purchase either a horse or item within a specific budget. Don’t waste people’s time by not posting the price.

DO – Post on a site that is user-friendly and classy. If you aren’t proud to have your horses or items on a specific site then that is not the best place to market your horse.

DO- Send the link to all your ads to your trainers, friends etc to post on their social media pages and spread the word.

DO- Get a pre-purchase exam done on your horse and already have x-rays available for a potential buyer to see. It’s makes you more proactive and ahead of the game.

DON’T – Let the haters and trolls get you down on social media. Someone is bound to make a negative comment about your horse or items for sale. Don’t buy into their comments and make sure you block them and delete their negative comments from your social media sites, etc.

DON’T – Price your horses or items too high. Make sure you know its worth and price it accordingly. It is a waste of your time if you know you have priced yourself out of the market.

DON’T – Set Your Horse or Your items up to fail by not presenting them in the best manner. Good pictures, videos, and information is a must.

DON’T – Be intimidated by the internet or technology. There is always someone willing to help or explain how something works. We will gladly help you post your ads to our site.

DON’T – Be fooled by spammers and scammers which unfortunately is rampant on social media. Make sure the person you are corresponding with is legit.

DON’T – Be dishonest and not reveal any issues with the horses or items you are posting online. Unfortunately there are people that will sell a lame horse or a stolen saddle. Make sure you do your due diligence before you either buy or sell horses or items online.
